| St Ann's Manor is a fine period house standing between the Cathedral Close and the area of the medieval Friary. Because the surrounding land is low lying and adjoins the river, it seems probable that only gardens or humble cottages occupied the site before the earliest part of the house, which includes the original oak staircase, was built in the mid-seventeenth century.
Around 1750 the house was extended to the west of the staircase and the present sitting room [formerly the library] still retains its elegant curved wall which only a few years ago lost the original bookshelves, disguising the door to the adjoining parlour [now the print and mail room].
The large music room, added in 1812 [reputedly as a wager] by the rich solicitor who then owned the house, accommodates our largest committee meetings and is home to the magnificent Millennium Embroidered Panel portraying the 16 Counties and Islands of Girlguiding South West England. This room conveniently opens on to the car park and the garden.
On 23 April 2005 the Chief Guide formally opened the new Harden training room on the top floor. This floor also accommodates a new toilet/shower room, bedroom and existing Archives room. The bedroom displays the Trefoil Guild Diamond Jubilee quilt and wall hanging. Refurbishment was largely accomplished through donations from Units, Districts, Divisions, Counties and Islands as well as individuals and Trefoil Guilds within the Region.

Accommodation at St Ann's Manor
It is anticipated that Region Advisers and Consultants will hold their annual meetings with their County/Island advisory teams at Region Office. Currently there are three rooms which can be used for these meetings:
- The Committee room, on the ground floor, seats 25 people at tables in board room style or 45 people in theatre style.
- The sitting room, on the ground floor, seats 15 people at tables in board room style or 20 in theatre style.
- The Harden Training room, on the second floor, seats 20 people at tables in board room style. The maximum number of people in this room is restricted to 20 because of emergency exit regulations.
